3M PIM Reduction Kit
The new 3M™ PIM Reduction Kit 1300 is a solution for today's biggest signal integrity challenges. Combining 3M's trusted expertise in EMI/EMC applications and adhesives, this out-of-the-box solution helps you reduce conducted PIM without significantly increasing costs, labor or disruptive downtime.
The 3M™ PIM Reduction Kit 1300 is made up of three layers, each developed through 3M™ science:
- 3M™ External PIM Absorber 1000: Composite material consisting of a carrier resin, magnetic fillers and an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA)
- Scotch® Linerless Rubber Splicing Tape 130C: Provides electrical and mechanical protection with the combination of an aggressive rubber resin adhesive and a self fusing, ethylene propylene backing.
- "Do Not Remove" Label: Informs technicians that the layers of tape shouldn't be removed during maintenance tasks
Together, these products offer an effective, robust solution for passive intermodulation (PIM) issues while allowing for easier installation with zero site downtime. In addition, it does not impede antenna adjustment and helps you promote the greater signal-to-noise ratio you need to support the higher data rates of 5G networks.
3M External PIM Absorber 1000 is a composite material consisting of a carrier resin, magnetic fillers and an acrylicpressure sensitive adhesive (PSA). This magnetic material is designedto help reduce radio frequency (RF) electrical currents associated with Passive Intermodulation (PIM), in wireless communications infrastructure. When 3M External PIM Absorber 1000 is applied adjacent to a PIM source, currents flowing to and from the PIM source can be significantly reduced, thereby increasing the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the radio access network.
The 3M External PIM Absorber 1000 is intended for applications in the 700MHz - 2GHz frequency range as the higher loss (u") characteristics of the 3M External PIM Absorber provide for excellent EM (Electro-Magnetic) field reduction.
By helping reduce RF currents with 3M External PIM Absorber 1000 before they reach a PIM source, any resulting PIM products are significantly reduced. For every 1dB reduction of these currents before they reach a PIM source, third order PIM products are reduced by 3dB, fifth order PIM products are reduced by 5dB and so on.
